When we first met Lucas at RNF CrossFit, he immediately became one of our favorite people. To know Lucas is to to love him. He’s kind, funny, encouraging and just a genuine human being. He calls everyone homie and has a fist bump to celebrate every achievement, big or small. So when we found out he was dating, we told him she better be amazing. Then we met Addison and we could tell she was. They deserve each other and complete each other in every way. When you find someone who not only makes you happy but makes you a better person, you hold on to them with everything you have. It was a privilege for us to be able to capture their outdoorsy engagement session at Barren River Lake this past weekend. Bonus: the park is located in a town called Lucas. Meant to be?
We started off their outdoorsy engagement session with just a few intimate moments of them together where they were truly comfortable, in nature and in each other’s arms. We did a few where he twirled her while she swished her summery white sundress.
This was such a sweet session. Getting to see how gentle these two were with each other brings so much hope for the life they have in store. They are very laid back, yet so in love.
I loved hearing a little bit more of their story. I had known them as a couple for awhile now but never really knew the story behind “them”. He liked her for about a month before he got the courage to ask her out on a real date, the first date for each of them. He had asked around about her for awhile because he “thought she was hot.” The more he found out about her, the more he knew he had to take a chance.
Thankfully she said yes. According to her “Everything has just been so good from the start.” I can attest to the fact that when you know, you know. You don’t have to be in several relationships to appreciate a really good thing when it comes along. You can just get asked out by the right person and have everything be good right from the start. I love that it worked out this way for them!
When you find two people who are both very giving of themselves, the results are beautiful. Nothing is based off selfishness. This is one of the things Lucas loves most about Addison. He said “She has one of the biggest hearts I have ever seen. She constantly is caring for others regardless of how she feels. I really admire this about her.” Now she has someone to take care of her the way she deserves as well.
We knew when he was going to propose and it was so hard to keep the secret! Since they love being outdoors, he took our suggestion of Winding Stairs Park in Lafayette, TN. If you haven’t been, we highly recommend it. It’s so beautiful and peaceful. Though it’s a public park, it felt very private. He proposed to her in the middle of the creek while her parents were able to capture it all on their phones. And he gave her the ring of her dreams.
We picked a few flowers to hold between them and when they were done, I told him he could do whatever he wanted with them. His answer? Put them in her hair. I mean, she does look pretty adorable with daisies in her hair, don’t you think?
It was sweet how he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. She was the one he chose. He is going to spend the rest of his life with this woman he absolutely adores.
And not only do they adore each other, but it’s very easy for them to laugh together. The laughs were plentiful on this engagement session. It was just so comfortable and effortless. When you know you’re going to get to spend your life with your best friend, what’s better than that? But before I go any further, I need to tell you a funny story about how Lucas asked Addison out.
Remember how I told you Lucas loves to celebrate accomplishments with a fist bump? (It just comes naturally in a gym setting, you know?) Well when he finally got the nerve to ask her out at work (while she was elbow deep in nursing care), she happily agreed. She only had one hand free, so he reached out his hand and gave her a fist bump. I mean, it was something to celebrate for sure. But a fist bump because she agreed to go on a date with you? That was typical Lucas style. It was hilarious and it was sweet.
I don’t know how many of their family members that are going to the wedding will read this, but we joked about maybe when they say “kiss the bride”, they should give each other a fist bump first. Wouldn’t that be the best?!
I mean, kiss the bride you expect. Fist bump the bride? That would be original. And it would be them. Here are just a few more images from their outdoorsy engagement session at Barren River Lake. We hope you love them as much as we do!
Thank you, Lucas and Addison, for trusting us with your engagement photos. Y’all nailed it and we can’t wait to watch you two become man and wife!
Love, Kevin and Renee
Love these picture and these two people. Lucas is the first of my grandchildren to marry. He and Addison are soul mates.
Funny story. While on a trip I bought my grad kids a key ring with each one name on it. I was so proud of myself for buying grandkids plus Addison one with everyone name on it only to learn I bought one
with Allison name on it instead of Addison. Lucas and Addison laugh and took gift said nothing. My granddaughter, Gracie , told me about mistake. I apologize to Addison and bought her one with correct name on it. But she said she wanted to keep first one. Addison is a truly sweet and special girl. Love her and Lucas to moon and back
Love it! She’s a keeper for sure!
